RYA Day Skipper

Aim: To gain the theory knowledge required to skipper a yacht safely & competently on short passages in sheltered water

Duration: 1 night/week for 14 weeks or 5 days + 1 night

Previous experience required: Theory course, no experience necessary

Content: Pilotage & navigation, Rules of the Road, Theory of Sailing, Boat handling, Yacht construction, Safety equipment & Meteorology

 

RYA Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster

Aim: To gain the theory knowledge required to skipper a yacht safely & competently offshore

Duration: 1 night/week for 14 weeks or 5 days and 2 nights

Previous experience required: Theory course, Day Skipper/ Inshore Skipper ticket or previous high level navigation experience is essential.

Content: Coastal navigation, Safety & meteorology, Yacht design, construction, maintenance & stability, Collision regulations, Radar & GPS

 

Marine Radio Course & Exam

Aim: To learn the correct operation of VHF & HF radio

Duration: 1 day, exam on the afternoon of the course

Previous experience required: Theory course, no experience necessary

Content: Rules and regulations and the correct procedure for distress and urgency calling

Remember that if you operate this equipment without a license you are breaking the law

 

RYA Diesel Engine course

Aim: To give an awareness of the main systems of a marine diesel engine

Duration: 1 day

Previous experience required: Theory course, no experience necessary

 

RYA/ MCA & ISAF Sea Survival

Content: Safety & emergency planning, use & maintenance of safety equipment, liferafts, flares & storm equipment

Duration: 2 days

Previous experience required: Theory course, no experience necessary

 

Marine First Aid

Content: Developed by trained paramedics who are experienced offshore yachtsmen. Using the Red Cross Australian Intermediate Syllabus as the core content you will focus on injuries which are marine specific.

Duration: 1 day

RYA Radar

Boat Safe Recreational Boat License

Content: From September 2005 the master of any recreational vessel with an engine greater than six HP (4kw) in Queensland must hold a marine drivers license issued by the Queensland Department of Transport. We specialise in training the owners of multihull and monohull yachts for this qualification.

Duration: 1 day

STCW95 (includes RYA/ MCA & ISAF Sea Survival & Marine First Aid)

Content: This is a mandatory entry level safety qualification for anyone who wishes to work as a professional seafarer internationally. The course is intended for those who wish to work on all classes of vessels internationally and includes: Personal Safety Techniques, Elementary First Aid for Seafarers, Fire Fighting and Fire Prevention, Personal Safety and Social Responsibility. This unique course allows you to complete the STCW95 training as well as receive the YA/ RYA/ MCA & ISAF recognised Sea Survival training and the Marine First Aid which is Australian Work Cover accredited, RYA/ YA compliant and meets training requirements for the Australian Master V.

Duration: 6 days
