Boat Handling Course

Boat handling course on board OceansOne of the most challenging aspects of yachting is ‘parking’ the boat!

This one day boat handling course teaches the many aspects of handling a yacht under power including, leaving and entering a variety of berthing situations, springing on and off, reversing into a berth, use of stern kick and turning in a tight circle. This course is completely practical, recapping on basics then building confidence as each student takes the helm as they plan and complete various berthing exercises.

This course will give you the confidence to moor yachts in unfamiliar conditions and is ideal for people about to take a bareboat charter and people who want to berth their own boat without the drama! We even teach you a ‘Mediterranean Mooring’ for those heading there to charter.

The course runs from 9am until 4pm and includes lunch and morning tea and refreshments. .

“The boat handling course conducted by Richie on Sunday was excellent. The weather was appropriate for the course content and methods of imparting knowledge was good. I would recommend this course to all who think they know everything about docking a boat in adverse conditions.” Brian Bamblett, Mullumbimby
