RYA Competent Crew

Become an active crew member rather than just a passenger.  No matter your previous experience, at completion you will be able to helm the yacht, handle sails, keep a lookout and assist in all day-to-day routines.

Expand your knowledge in the following areas:

Sea terms
Parts of a boat
Rigging and sails
Sail handling
Ropework
Personal safety equipment
Firefighting
Man Overboard
Emergency equipment
Seasickness and how to deal with it
Meteorology (if weather permits)
Helmsmanship
General duties/manners

How to complete the course:

5-day liveaboard (Mon 9am – Fri 4pm)
$2100 inc GST & meals onboard (excluding 1 crew meal ashore)
Cabin sharing possible (especially during peak seasons)

OR

3 x weekends (Sat 9am – Sun 4pm), all 3 must be complete to gain certification.
The weekends do not need to be consecutive but preferably completed within a 6-month period for information retention
$750/weekend/person  OR  $700/weekend/person for 2 or more people
RYA course booklet and logbook given on weekend 2
Completion of RYA Start Yachting counts as weekend 1 of the 3
Cabin sharing possible (especially during peak seasons)
